May 5th - Hurtigruten (Honningsvåg)
Honningsvåg was today’s major stop and a place that claims to be Europe’s most northernmost mainland city. However, there’s a bit of poetic licence with this claim as the city is actually on an island and only connected to the mainland via a recently built tunnel! (Based on the claim though we thought we’d have a beer in the town’s northernmost pub but it was closed! 😥)

Essential household items in this part of the world! 😆 |
There were a couple episodes of excitement on the boat today as a number of whales were spotted by the crew which got everybody out on deck trying to get pictures of them. We had no luck with the cameras but they were great to see nevertheless.
The second occurrence was at dinner. Our table is right next to the window and while JEM was looking out to sea spotted more whales. With a quick exclamation of ‘OMG look!’ Within seconds what seemed to be half the ship’s passengers were surrounding our table waiting for them to resurface. Again, no pictures, but who takes their cameras to dinner? (apart from us from now on! 😊)
I think Bryan needs the 4w bike with 'blade'. Would be just the thing for going up and down the track to keep it nicely passable with all the rain we have had 🌧️⛈️
