20th Jul - Shipton to Birdlip

Wow!, if we thought yesterday was hilly today’s journey between Shipton and Birdlip had some beauties!  Not ‘really’ steep but long, long, and up, they certainly make your legs ‘burn’ 🥵 😊!

We’re still crossing mainly farmland and, with the amount of potential ‘weet-bix’ that we’ve walked through, it has got to be the wheat and barley season!

Walking through a couple of hamlets today and it’s obvious that we’ve moved on from the honey coloured sandstone buildings of the northern villages to a lighter, greyer, limestone used around here.

A small lake and it’s river wending it’s way alongside the Cotswold Way.

Today our pathway meandered it’s way through a small number of different woodland areas, giving us a perfect example of how places can sound alike (i.e. ‘Woodlands’) but still look so different.

BottomR: The first ripe blackberry on our trip

(which obviously didn’t last long! 👅😋)
