Jul 14th - Broadway to Chipping Campden

OMG what a day!  I think today must have made up for all the rain that we didn’t have while in France earlier this trip 🙄.  It was an absolute deluge all day and, apart from some minor interludes when we managed to get a couple of photos, we got completely drenched.

Under ‘normal’ circumstances I imagine the walk to Chipping Campden would have been very enjoyable however today it was not so ‘very’ 😆.  Fairly flat for about 3/4 of the way, once we began a long slow walk uphill then things rapidly started to go ‘downhill’! 😆  First off our boots started to leak, then the grass on the footpath became longer, denser, and the ground underfoot had become softer, stickier, and even more ‘slidy’, and just to make things worse the rain got heavier!   We’ve got all the ‘right’ gear, which made a huge difference, but the umbrellas became obsolete as, to stop ourselves sliding over, we needed both hands on our poles.  Still we got here and, even in the rain, Chipping Campden looks like a very nice village.

Out to the pub for dinner tonight and the ‘Rain Gods’ gave us a bit of a break, (only one-way though!😊), and so we managed a quick scoot around the place.  Yellow sandstone for most of the buildings again, all very nice, but we’ve got fingers crossed for a nicer day tomorrow to have a bit of a longer ‘explore’.
