Jul 21st - Birdlip to Painswick

A change of scenery on our walk today as all of our journey from Birdlip to Painswick, apart from a couple of roads and golf fairways, was through woodlands.  Occasionally there’d be a bit of a view along the way but overall it was trees, trees, and more trees!  It was also very quiet, and the only people we saw hiking were a couple of Queenslanders (just adding to our belief that it’s only Ozzie’s and Kiwi’s that are walking the Cotswold Way!).

It was a bit of an abrupt finish to our hike today as the woodland walk practically ended in the middle of Painswick.  It wasn’t long, therefore, before we were unpacked and out exploring.  Full of tiny narrow streets, and a lot smaller than either of us had expected, this charming, yet non-touristy village is a perfect example of the local lighter coloured limestone used for its building materials.
